JACKSONVILLE (FBC)–As the 2008 hurricane season approaches, three regional disaster relief training sessions will be offered in May and June. Trainings are divided into phases for new and former volunteers and also offer applied training in specialty skills for recent responders. Areas of applied training include feeding, clean-up and recovery, child care, water purification and emergency communications.
Conferences are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be held throughout the state on the following dates: May 31, Oakview Baptist Church, Okeechobee; June 7, North Florida Baptist Church, Tallahassee; June 21, First Baptist Church, Dover*.
Registration is onsite at each training location. Cost is $25 for new volunteers and $10 returning volunteers.
