The Jubilation Student Choir of First Baptist Church in Merritt Island recently completed a mission tour of Vancouver, British Columbia. The group distributed promotional material for a new church start in the area, and constructed a thrift store and counseling center for NightShift Street Ministries, which daily ministers to its neighborhood's hungry residents.
Throughout the Lower Mainland, Jubilation Choir performed 17 concerts, including five in elementary schools. According to a church press release, the concerts were "high-energy," featuring choreography, hip-hop and swing dances and a stomp percussion group. Several students also shared personal testimonies.
Made up of students seventh grade through college-age, Jubilation Student Choir has traveled during the past ten years to Toronto, New York City, Washington, D.C., New Orleans, St. Louis, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Nicaragua. The choir is under the direction of Byron Cutrer, minister of worship and music.
