FBCH trustees name acting president

LAKELAND (FBCH)—During the April 24 meeting of the Florida Baptist Children's Homes board of trustees, the board named Steve Johnston as acting president beginning May 1, 2007, the effective retirement date of current president Jimmy McAdams.

The board also approved a limited assignment of responsibilities that Johnston will assume in addition to his current task as vice-president-treasurer of the agency. Among these responsibilities are: (1) perform the essential daily duties of the president; (2) supervise personnel; (3) negotiate and transact essential matters for the operation of the agency with signature authority to legally bind or commit the agency; (4) represent the agency in conducting business with the Florida Baptist Convention and any other FBSC agency; among other tasks.

The President Search Committee reported that they are "still in the interviewing" phase with prospective candidates. The committee is not expected to report before the next board of trustees meeting set for July 30-31.
