Special Education Retreat scheduledJune 17-18 at Lake Yale Conference CenterPublished June 2, 2005
LAKE YALE (FBC)–Developmentally challenged persons and their caretakers may attend an overnight adventure at Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center during the 25th annual Special Education Retreat June 17-18. “This unique camping experience will provide developmentally handicapped adults and youth the opportunity to participate in small group Bible study and a worship experience especially for them,” said David Moore, associate director, Florida Baptist Convention Sunday School Department. The retreat will feature curriculum based on this year’s Vacation Bible School (VBS) material, “Ramblin’ Road Trip: Which Way do I go?” Campers will learn music, make crafts and participate in a talent show and other activities centered on the VBS theme. Churches must send one sponsor or parent for every three campers. Parents, caretakers and volunteers who attend as sponsors will have the opportunity to listen to a special information session and discussion. Early registration is encouraged due to limited space. Cost is $60 per person and includes one night’s lodging, three meals and all retreat costs. For more information or to obtain registration and health/consent forms contact the Sunday School Department at 800-226-8584, ext. 3076, or email whylton@flbaptist.org. |
