DELRAY BEACH (FBW)—Dora Schwem, 96, was one of five baptized on Easter at First Baptist Church, Delray Beach. She made a profession of faith during a recent revival, after a personal visit by interim pastor Andrew M. Hall and evangelist Van Capps.

When asked if she had received Christ into her life, Schwem said she was unsure. She told the ministers she recalled going to an altar and praying to God during a crisis in her life. According to Hall, Schwem “willingly allowed the Scriptures pertaining to salvation to be read in her condo,” and then prayed for salvation.

Hall told Florida Baptist Witness the baptismal heater had not heated the water, making it “creek-cold,” but Schwem was “so euphoric, she hardly noticed.” She did insist on one stipulation for baptism; she wore a bathing cap so her hair would not be “messed up on Easter Sunday.”
