West Bay Baptist opens its facilities to other churches for ‘Soaring Summer 2005 Outreach’

PANAMA CITY (FBW)—West Bay Baptist Church in Panama City is opening its facilities to other churches throughout the southeast for the June and July “Soaring Summer 2005 Outreach.”

West Bay hopes to partner with 10 churches during its 10-week endeavor, which is three-pronged: facilities utilized for meetings and as a command center for outreaches; participation in West Bay’s local visitation and outreach; and a television and internet outreach (www.westflorida.info). An estimated 50,000 people live within five miles of West Bay, a small country church located five miles north of Panama City on Highway 79.

“We’re looking for talented people who will lend their expertise to produce 10 evangelistic programs,” said John Mofield, the multi-media vice chairman and producer of the church’s television ministry. He said “West Bay Late Night”—aired on NBC affiliate WJHG TV 7—is a “miracle ministry because it has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands in west Florida” since its inception a year ago.

Outreach is especially imperative this summer, according to Mofield, as tourism will decrease due to the redevelopment of northwest Florida to include more condominiums and $100 to $300 a night hotel rooms. He called it the last great outreach opportunity for family tourism.

Mofield said the church, which has hosted other churches’ summer outreaches for 20 years, is very flexible with this “very aggressive, directed evangelistic outreach” to an area experiencing explosive growth.
