JACKSON, Tenn. (BP)--The Union University Lady Bulldogs won the 2005 NAIA National Basketball Championship with a 67-63 win over Oklahoma City University in the title game March 22 at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn.—while in Indianapolis Baylor University won their first-ever Big 12 NCAA women's basketball championship, beating Michigan State University 84-62 April 5.

For Union (35-5), this is the second NAIA women's national title (1998, 2005) and the first for sixth year head coach Mark Campbell.

The Baylor crowd, chanting "No. 1," dog-piled at center court with the Lady Bears to celebrate their first national championship in school history. Kim Mulkey-Robertson, head coach, is the first woman to win an NCAA title as a coach and a player, with Louisiana Tech as a point guard in 1982, a feat achieved in men's basketball only by legendary coaches Bobby Knight and Dean Smith.
