Adrian Rogers: His life and ministry began in Florida

• Sept. 12, 1931 - Rogers born to the late Arden and Rose Rogers in West Palm Beach. The couple's third child.

• Graduated from Palm Beach High School, May, 1950.

• Ordained by Northwood Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, May 6, 1951.

• Graduated from Stetson University with Bachelor of Arts in 1954.

• First pastorate - First Baptist Church, Fellsmere.

• Graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1958.

• Other Florida pastorates - Parkview Baptist Church, Fort Pierce, and First Baptist Church, Merritt Island.

• Called to Belleview Baptist Church near Memphis, Tenn., in 1972.

• Received honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Trinity College in Dunedin.
