Three workshops to train volunteers to teach English overseasPublished March 17, 2005
TAMPA (FBC)A workshop for volunteers traveling overseas to teach English as a foreign language is April 8-9 at Seminole Heights Baptist Church in Tampa; April 22-23 at King Street Baptist Church in Cocoa; and Sept. 15-17 during the State Literacy Missions Conference at Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center in Leesburg. Designed specifically for short-term volunteers, the workshops will address Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TELF) principles, lesson planning, placement testing, culturally appropriate topics and necessary materials. Participants receive a certificate of completion. April workshops begin on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and conclude Saturday at 4 p.m. Cost is $23 and includes a workbook manual. The September workshop is included in the price of the State Literacy Conference and will follow the two-day conference schedule.
