Cross roads quarterly receives 2004 Crystal Award of Excellence

JACKSONVILLE (FBC)–CROSS ROADS, the quarterly production of the Convention’s Media Services Department, received a Crystal Award of Excellence in the 2004 Communicator Awards, placing the video magazine among the best cable and broadcast programs in the industry.

“The Communicator Awards provide the opportunity to have someone else look at our productions and affirm the quality and communication value of the content,” said Ty Wood, director of Media Services, Florida Baptist Convention.

CROSS ROADS tells the story of Florida Baptist church members who are making a difference in their

local community, across Florida and around the world. The program, which reaches 80 percent of Florida’s households, won recognition in a competition against nearly 3,000 entries.

The competition is judged by industry professionals and awards are presented to companies and individuals displaying a talent which exceeds a high standard of excellence. Award winners are considered programs that demonstrate industry benchmarks.

“The production team for CROSS ROADS effectively uses visual technology, without gimmickry, to present the ‘heart and soul’ of a missions and ministry story to our viewers,” said Don Hepburn, director of the Convention’s Public Relations Division. “We believe CROSS ROADS helps Florida Baptists better appreciate and understand who they are as God’s people at work in Florida.”

Also recognized with a Crystal Award of Excellence was a video report on Florida Baptists’ Maguire State Mission Offering. An award of distinction was presented for the sesquicentennial video presentation “Our Heritage, Our Hope,” which was commissioned in honor of a yearlong celebration reflecting Florida Baptist history and heritage.
