Southeastern Seminary president featured in BCF Powell LecturesPublished January 27, 2005
GRACEVILLE (BCF)The annual Powell Lectures will be held at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) Feb. 14 - 15 on the Graceville campus. The event is 10 11 a.m. each day in the Assembly Center.
SEBTS Photo Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) President Daniel L. Akin is the guest speaker for the scholarly lecture focused on the theme How To Think Like a Worldview Christian. The first lecture will be titled What is a Worldview Anyway and Do I Have One? It will be followed the second day with a lecture titled Foundational Beliefs of a Christian Worldview. Akin is the sixth president of SEBTS located in Wake Forest, N.C. Akin began his higher education career as a professor at Criswell College in 1988 and has since served in various capacities at both SEBTS and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He most recently served as vice president for academic administration/ dean of the school of theology at Southern before making the move back to Southeastern. Akin is also a published author of numerous articles and books, including the 2003 release of God on Sex, Song of Solomon in the Holman Bible Concordance, and Discovering the Biblical Jesus: Evidence from an Empty Tomb. Akin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Criswell College in Dallas, Texas, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities from the University of Texas at Arlington. He and his wife, Charlotte, have four children. The Powell Lectures are free to the public.
