New South Florida Bible Study Summit offers Sunday School leaders age-specific trainingPublished January 27, 2005
JACKSONVILLE (FBW)A one-day meeting focused on cultivating A Heart for all People through Sunday School and small group programs will be held at First Baptist Church, Pompano Beach, March 12. The South Florida Bible Study Summit, held in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French-Creole, will feature culturally specific training providing insights and teaching tools for Bible study leaders in diversely populated South Florida communities. Church and Sunday School leaders attending the Summit will hear from seasoned leaders experienced in working with preschool, children, youth and adults. We provide quality age-group training because we believe the best way to reach new people attending a Bible study is to prepare the teacher with the finest training possible, said John Boone, director of the Florida Baptist Convention Sunday School department. Each age-specific track is broken into two general sessions addressing a selection of contemporary topics and important issues voiced by local ministers. Through this Summit, we are trying to provide more selection to meet the need of each Bible study teacher, said Boone. We are on mission together to reach the heart of all people. Additional sessions for leaders who work with hearing impaired individuals or persons with special education needs are also offered. A special session on stewardship will highlight ways to honor God with time, talents and possessions. Spanish sessions will be held jointly with English sessions at First Baptist Church, Pompano Beach. Portuguese Summit sessions will be held at Primeira Igreja Batista Brasileira do sul da Florida, Pompano Beach and French-Creole conferences will be held at Redemption Baptist Church in Pompano Beach. Check-in for all language groups begins at 7:30 a.m. Sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $10 per person before Feb. 28. After that date, the late cost is $15.
