Cuba native among newly appointed NAMB missionaries

 

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (NAMB)—Eight missionaries with ties to Florida have been appointed by the North American Mission Board recently, according to a January news release.

Adalberto “Al” and Noemi Fernandez serve in Miami, where Adalberto Fernandez is a church planting missionary. A native of Miami, Adalberto Fernandez is a graduate of Miami-Dade Community College, Miami; Florida International University, Miami, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. Most recently, he served for seven years as founding pastor of Jubilee Community Church, Miami.

Noemi Fernandez, a native of Cuba, works in the customer service industry. The Fernandezes have three children: Aimee, 19; Adriel, 15; and Andrew, 13.

Eric J. and Heather N. Grenier serve in Lake Wales, where Eric is a Nehemiah Project church planter. Grenier, a New York native, is a graduate of The Baptist College of Florida, Graceville, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. He has served as a youth pastor since 1996 at churches in Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, Texas and New Mexico.

Heather Grenier is a native of New Mexico. The couple has one son: Caleb, 3.

Steve F. and Janet L. Nerger serve in Alpharetta, Ga., where Steve Nerger serves on the Implementation Team with the NAMB’s Church Planting Group. As a national church planting missionary, Nerger helps mentor and train bivocational church planters throughout the United States and its territories, as well as Canada.

A New York native, Nerger is a graduate of Trinity Evangelical College, Miami, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C. He also served five years with the United States Navy. Most recently, Nerger served for 12 years as pastor of Pines Baptist Church, Pembroke Pines. He has also served on staff at Flamingo Road Baptist Church, Fort Lauderdale, and Stanton Memorial Baptist Church, Miami.

Janet Nerger, also a New York native, has served in youth ministry and new church starts for several years. The Nergers have three adult children and Amberlee, 2.

Larry. E. and Karen A. Sharrow serve in Abingdon, Md., where Larry Sharrow is a Nehemiah Project church planter. Sharrow, a native of Fort Lauderdale, is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He serves as church planter/pastor of Real Life Church, Abingdon, Md. Sharrow formerly served as senior pastor of Enon Baptist Church, Franklinton, La.

A certified public accountant, Sharrow owned Sharrow & Company, a CPA firm in Fort Lauderdale, for 18 years.

Karen Sharrow, a native of Ohio, is a graduate of Broward Community College, Fort Lauderdale. The Sharrows have three daughters: Monique, 22; Sarah, 12; and Rachel, 10.
