Skydiving option for men's retreat sponsored by Orange Park church

ORANGE PARK (FBW) - A “Wild At Heart” themed men’s retreat at Horn’s Creek Resort in Ocoee, Tenn., is scheduled March 17-20.

The event, coordinated by single adults and young married adults pastor David Tarkington of First Baptist Church, Orange Park, is open to all men. The cost has not been determined yet, but space is limited and will be filled on a first-come basis. Reservations can be made by calling (904) 264-2351 or e-mailing David@fbc-orangepark.org.

The best-selling book by John Eldredge inspired Tarkington to include paintballing, white water rafting, kayaking, and hiking among the activities. Men will be challenged to find their identities in Christ and their roles in God’s story. According to a news release by Tarkington, many men who went to Horn’s Creek in 2003 said it was the best event they had ever participated in.

After the retreat, an optional tandem skydiving activity (see www.georgiaskydivingcenter.com) is planned in Rome, Ga. There is a weight limit of 250 lbs., and an additional $150 is required.

“If the men in Band of Brothers could jump out of planes over the beaches of Normandy while being shot at on D-Day, certainly we can jump out of a plane over north Georgia,” Tarkington said in the release.
