Photo by John J. Hannigan III LAKELAND (FBW) Florida Baptist Childrens Homes officials reported no significant structural damage to the agencys 35-acre campus from Hurricane Jeanne as the powerful storm passed over Lakeland Sept. 26. The facilities were still without power as of Monday afternoon, Sept. 27.
In a news release to Florida Baptist Witness, FBCH communications director Gary Kimler said, One large Oak tree fell across a chain-link fence and blocked an adjoining neighborhood street, and there were plenty of smaller, broken tree limbs scattered throughout the property which is the headquarters for the statewide agency. The property also has a cottage for children. With Polk County Schools closed because of the hurricane Monday, the children helped the staff clear those limbs just as they did in recent weeks after the previous hurricanes, Kimler noted. |
