‘Celebrate His Glory’ theme of 2004 FBSC annual meeting

The theme of our 2004 Florida Baptist State Convention is Celebrate His Glory. I urge you to meet with Florida Baptists November 8 and 9 in Jacksonville. We give thanks for 150 years of the Florida Baptist State Convention through celebrating the glory of the Lord. The sessions will include inspiring worship, anointed preaching, challenging reports, and needed business matters.

We will Celebrate His Glory through these themes:

• The Glory of His Revelation
• The Glory of His Redemption
• The Glory of His Resurrection
• The Glory of His Return

The sessions will focus on declaring the glory of Christ in every aspect of our ministries. The focal verse for our convention is “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).

Our musical guests will include:

• Leo Day, professor of voice at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary
• Charles Billingsley, Christian recording artist and worship leader at Thomas Road Baptist Church, Lynchburg, Va.
• Baptist Singing Men and Woman and Orchestra
• First Voice Choir and Orchestra, First Baptist, Brandon
• Praise Team from First Baptist Church, Mandarin
• Jacksonville Area Mass Choir

Our preachers will include:

• Jim Henry, pastor, First Baptist Orlando
• Al Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky.
• John Sullivan, executive director of the Florida Baptist Convention
• Tommy Green, pastor, First Baptist, Brandon
• Gary Williams, pastor, First Baptist, Mandarin
• Emanuel Roque, director of Hispanic ministries, Miami Baptist Association
• Joseph Gaston, Language Church Development, Florida Baptist Convention
• Ted Traylor, pastor, Olive Baptist, Pensacola
• Bobby Welch, pastor, First Baptist, Daytona

Special features will include:

• Celebration of baptism
• Celebration of Lord’s Supper
• 150th Year Observance

The celebration of the glory of the Lord provides a powerful theme of unity for our gathering in Jacksonville. I hope that you will explore the possibility of being part of this historic gathering.

I assure you that I will do everything possible to make this convention a positive experience of worship, praise, and inspiration for you and your church.

I encourage churches to send your ministers to Jacksonville for Celebrate His Glory.

The benefits of building relationships with believers across the state of Florida are critical for our cooperative efforts.

The yearly meeting is an awesome time of fellowship and encouragement for each of us.

Come! Celebrate His Glory! in Jacksonville, November 8-9.
