Floridians appointed to, nominated for SBC posts

 

JACKSONVILLE (FBW)—Two Florida pastors have been appointed by Southern Baptist Convention President Jack Graham to the SBC’s Committee on Committees to serve during the June 15-16 annual meeting in Indianapolis.

Florida Baptist State Convention President J. Thomas Green, pastor, First Baptist Church, Brandon, and Forrest Pollock, pastor, Bell Shoals Baptist Church, Brandon were appointed to the 70-member committee.

Other Florida Baptists have been nominated by the 2004 SBC Committee on Nominations and will serve if elected by the messengers to the annual meeting June 15-16 in Indianapolis.

Listed by the entity to which they have been nominated, they are:

Executive Committee

Gregory R. Tait, member of First Baptist Church, Fort Lauderdale, replacing Carol D. Anderson, Clearwater, and Joseph (Jody) Hudgins, member of Sarasota Baptist Church, replacing Leslie S. (Les) Coggins, Daytona Beach, for a term expiring in 2008.

Darrell P. Orman, senior pastor, First Baptist Church, Stuart, replacing William E. (Bill) Anderson, who resigned, for a term expiring in 2005.

International Mission Board

Gerald B. Reeves, Niceville, and John C. Russell, Brandon, nominated for a second term.

Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

James A. Smith Sr., Palm Coast, nominated for a second term.

Golden Gate Theological Seminary

Joseph A. (Jay) Dennis, pastor, First Baptist Church at the Mall, Lakeland, replacing Lester M. Maples, Youngstown, who is ineligible for re-election.
