Fourth IMB worker dead after northern Iraq drive-by shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (IMB) -- A fourth American has been confirmed dead after a March 15 attack on five humanitarian workers in northern Iraq.

David E. McDonnall, 28, of Rowlett, Texas, died Tuesday morning (Mosul, Iraq, time) en route to a military support hospital in Baghdad. Four U.S.military surgeons had worked for six hours to save his life.

His wife, Carrie Taylor McDonnall, 26, of Rowlett, Texas, remains in critical condition.

The three other workers killed were Larry T. Elliott, 60, and Jean Dover Elliott, 58, of Cary, N.C., and Karen Denise Watson, 38, of Bakersfield, Calif.The four died from bullet and shell fragment wounds reportedly from automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades. The victims were attacked by unidentified assailants.
