NAMB appoints six missionaries with Florida connectionsPublished December 5, 2002
Six missionaries with ties to Florida have been appointed by the North American Mission Board: *Pierre and Elsy Michaud serve as church planting missionaries in Ft. Lauderdale, where they work primarily in Haitian church planting. Pierre Michaud is a graduate of Kingsborough Community College in New York and is a 1989 graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He also received degrees from York College in New York, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Michaud was pastor of the First Haitian Ebenezer Baptist Church in Orlandofrom 1990 until this year. Elsy Michaud is a graduate of American Business Institute in New York. She has served in office support roles and since 1990, served as hostess with Walt Disney World in Orlando. The Michauds have five children: Priscille, 20; Rachel, 19; Esther, 17; Samuel, 13; and Daniel, 9. *Amber R. Sanford serves as a special ministries missionary in Daytona Beach, where she is director of resort and collegiate ministries at the Halifax Baptist Association and director of Baptist Collegiate Ministry at Daytona Beach Community College. She was appointed under the US/C-2 program, in which young adults serve two years in the United States or Canada. Sanford holds bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from the University of Georgia. She is a member of River of Life Church in Conyers, Ga., where she has served as choir director and youth minister. She also has served as a summer missionary in Riverton, Wyo. *Glenn M. and Bonnie A. Rogers serve in Reno, Nev., where Glenn Rogers is director of evangelism and prayer for the Nevada Baptist Convention. Rogers, a native of Kissimmee, is a graduate of Appalachian State University and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He previously served four months as interim associate pastor of Green Valley Baptist Church in Henderson, Nev., and earlier was volunteer coordinator for the "Loving Las Vegas" evangelism and church-planting effort. He also has served as pastor of churches in Tennessee and Florida and has prior experience as a schoolteacher and as a U.S. Army officer. Bonnie Rogers, who considers Georgia her home state, has prior experience as an executive secretary in Tennessee and Florida, and has served in a variety of church leadership role. The Rogerses have one son, Dave. *Tina F. Tucker serves as weekday ministries director in Sand Springs, Okla. She also was appointed under the US/C-2 program. Tucker, a Florida native, is a graduate of Flagler College in St. Augustine. She has worked as a bank teller, schoolteacher and hotel desk clerk. She also has served as interim youth director or youth director for churches in Rogersville, Tenn., and Live Oak. (NAMB) |
