Ministers’ Wives seek award nominees

JACKSONVILLE (FBC)—Officers of the Florida Baptist Conference of Ministers’ Wives are seeking nominations for the Clyde Maguire Minister’s Wife Award to present during its annual luncheon, Nov. 11.

The annual award is given to a Florida Baptist minister’s wife who demonstrates faithful use of her God-given gifts in support of her husband’s ministry and in her own ministry.

Suggested qualifications for nominees include having served as the wife of a minister in Florida for at least 10 years and being active in the Florida Baptist Conference of Ministers’ Wives.

Nominations for the Clyde Maguire Award should include the number of years served in ministry in Florida, the names of churches and cities a minister’s wife has served and the contact information of the person submitting the nomination.

The award is named for the late Clyde Merrill Maguire, whose husband, John, served as executive secretary-treasurer of the Florida Baptist Convention from 1945 to 1967.

Presidents of the preceding three years Ministers’ Wives conferences form the selection committee.

The award will be presented during the Ministers’ Wives annual luncheon held in conjunction with the Florida Baptist State Convention annual meeting. The luncheon is set for noon Nov. 11 at the Embassy Suites USF in Tampa.

The luncheon will feature guest speaker Jeanette Henry, pastor’s wife at First Baptist, Orlando and the theme will be based on James 1:2.

Nomination must be sent by Oct. 1 to: Cindy Goodwin, Women’s Missions and Ministries Department, Florida Baptist Convention, 1230 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207.

The $12 luncheon tickets are available prior to the state convention. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase at the meeting.

For more information concerning the award or luncheon, call 800-226-8584, ext. 8287, or e-mail, cgoodwin@flbaptist.org.
